Kentucky’s Excused Voting Window Opens Today

October 21, 2026

Kentucky’s excused in-person absentee voting window opens today — Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

If you have a qualifying reason to vote absentee in person, you can vote on:

  • Wednesday, October 21, Thursday, October 22, and Friday, October 23
  • Monday, October 26, Tuesday, October 27, and Wednesday, October 28

That window is for voters with a qualifying reason only. Check with your county clerk or at govote.ky.gov to confirm whether you qualify, and to find your county’s locations and hours — hours vary by county.

Everyone else doesn’t have to wait long: no-excuse early voting follows Thursday, October 29 through Saturday, October 31. No reason is needed for that window.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.

Use your vote to ask the question

This is the candidate-pressure window KCFC has been talking about. Before you vote — in the excused window, in no-excuse early voting, or on Election Day — ask every candidate you can reach one clear question:

Where do you stand on letting Kentuckians vote on decriminalization — adults 21 and over possessing up to one ounce, and cultivating, harvesting, and storing up to five plants for personal use?

Kentucky voters don’t get to put that amendment on the ballot themselves. The General Assembly has to send it to voters. That makes who you send to Frankfort matter.

Don’t wait until November 3 to make your voice heard. The excused window is open now, no-excuse early voting starts October 29, and the pressure window effectively closes October 31 — before Election Day itself.
